A MESSAGE FROM OUR CEO

We must look forward, beyond the daily barrage of coronavirus news, as we prepare for upcoming challenges in our community. As our nation and the world continue to deal with the unknown consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic, we should strive to prevent fear from interfering with our response and our ultimate recovery from this unprecedented public health crisis.

The Greater Hollywood Chamber has teamed up with our closest partner, The City of Hollywood, to monitor public health guidelines and help businesses get information on pandemic-related financial aid. Our chamber website is rich with resources and guidelines for local businesses, including daily COVID-19 updates and helpful insights on business loans and assistance programs.

We should resist the temptation to indulge pessimism and strive instead to sustain the optimism that has made Hollywood Florida one of the greatest communities anywhere. Just look around: Investment capital has poured into local landmarks from the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino on State Road 7 to others on Hollywood Beach, as well as several new downtown developments.

When the COVID-19 outbreak subsides, what will restart the economic growth and development of Hollywood? We don’t know when this crisis will be behind us, of course, so we are hoping for the best and preparing for what comes next. Among other initiatives, we will work with the city to find new ways to showcase Hollywood as a prime South Florida location halfway between Miami and Fort Lauderdale with its own vibrant downtown, beaches and scenic broadwalk.

We have the tools, location and growth potential to recover from this crisis, and recover we will!  I look forward to seeing our positive vision for the city come to fruition. Keep the faith: I am confident there is light at the end of this dark tunnel – a bright flash from an economic boom that will lift Hollywood and the rest of South Florida.  In the meantime, we must follow all of the CDC and the Department of Health guidelines and recommendations. Stay safe, stay healthy and see you all very soon!
